Receiving on the first turn, the Dark Elves smash their way into KOing 2 Saurus and Badly hurting a third. From this position of numerical advantage, they easily score, and while Shrieking Bloodstorm try to hit back, they never manage to get ahead of the dark elves; every time a dark elf is removed from the pitch, another lizard goes too.
Scoring on turn 8, the dark elves place 3 sidesteppers on the line; however, a quick snap + Telleek's grab ability means that Shindahl has a shot at scoring even still! But the skink tasked with retrieving the ball drops it.. but only after the only sure hands dark elf has been badly hurt.
Then early in the second half, Tialncal, the strip ball skink, is also badly injured; and the dark elves take advantage of a poor LOS placement to blitz the backfield and steal away for a 2-0 lead.
Shindahl quickly gets the ball to rookie skink Lizzea, who is covered by a super loose cage ensuring a fireball can only get 2 players; so a lightning bolt is tried instead, but misses, and Lizzea scores on turn 5.
Shrieking Bloodstorm attempts one last shot at stealing the ball back, and Zekstalk makes a brilliant blitz into the elf screen (and ridiculously has a 1d block because I forgot to mark the only adjacent elf :P, but Nuffle was kind and we got a pow/push anyway) and badly hurts the ball carrier.. but as a sidestepper he ensures the ball cannot end up in the crowd, and so only a ridiculous series of dodges and gfi's and passes by Kazzee can get the ball to Shindahl in order to score.. and the 4th dodge is failed. The elves snake the pick up to try for a third touchdown, and 2-1 is the final score.
Malmir wins a very well played game, capitalizing on both what gifts Nuffle gave, and what mistakes I made.
Thanks for the match, and have fun!”
