“A tough start to this one but the Plebeians came through against the shambling Undead and their tricky ghouls.
The crowd were hostile as the rain drenched the players and pitch. A great kick from Fui Scaltro to the side of the pitch was followed by a pitch invasion! A number of our players, including retrieve Jesiah, were stunned by the rampant crowd while the Undead were left untouched. This was followed by Wilhelmus being unable to pick up the slippery ball and then the ghouls swooped. Fui Magro got the ball and the early td.
We were downcast but resolutely set up again. It wasn't an easy drive but we managed to get past and stall just long enough with Jesiah (who stood up to a blitz) to limit the Undead to two turns on offense.
They got through our line with receivers and then a double skulls blitz from us gave them a scoring chance. But again the wet came into play and the needed handoff was dropped.
So second half we had to pressure them. After some sparring across the pitch including a Wight ko the chance came when we were able to get Gevehard next to their ghoul ball carrier. A mummy was put down by him as it tried to push him away and then we could get the carrier down. Off went Gevehard with the ball. The ghouls had done great dodging throughout the match but finally one was felled and so Gevehard could comfortably get the winning td. Good (but long) match. ”
