“Another fine tussle for the Plebeians, though the leaping antics of the strange Slaan players caused some consternation. Another game where we had to recover from a difficult start before taking over. This time we held on to the win.
We received and Fato quickly ko'd a lineslaan. But we foolhardily neglected the Legs leaping ability and Laggy Legal promptly leaped at Jesiah and pow'd him to the ground. A catched then hurled the ball to our endzone. But Wilhelmus was the fastest on the pitch and scooped up the ball. Fato was stunned after being surrounded but we moved across the pitch with Laggy being ko'd by the Smithy. A couple of attacks were repelled and after a brief delay (when Gotwinus had to be fixed up by the apo) Wilhelmus didn't take further risks and got the first td.
Le Gargoyle picked up and advanced near halfway. Fato then barged through to him and the shocked Slaan made a surprise and crucial fall as he fell beneath the Ogre. Wilhelmus took the ball and though protected he needed his sidestepping and mediocre blocking ability to get him through to the td line.
We didn't want to let a 2td lead go again but it was close. After we kicked Gevehard charged towards the ball carrier but a quick pass later the Slaan had the ball in our half. A failed Slaan dodge gave Gotwinus the chance to take it down, though he couldn't grasp the ball. Gargoyle did get it and passed to Dick Leguan for the td, though valuable time for them had been lost.
In the last drive Jesiah fumbled the ball as Slaan came forward. 2nd attempt he picked up but still was a little exposed. Dick Leguan and helpers leaped in and got him down. But to our relief they couldnt get the ball. Phew.”
