“145 Rookie League XI

This game was flat out strange. It proved two things:

1) I have no idea how to properly play High Elves.

2) Nuffle loves tenacity.

The first half was a total disaster for the Sky Lords. They couldn't dodge, couldn't pass and certainly couldn't block. The Thrower was killed and the Apo managed to improve it to killed. Good work son. The only bright spot was that we kept the score 0 - 0. Well, I say kept it 0 - 0, but basically survived because the Nurglers couldn't pick up the ball.

The second half dawned with 7 High Elves starring down the barrel of the rotten gun. The Nurgle crew marched forward, getting two dice blocks at will and fouling with impunity. The Elves could only cling on and trust to their armour. But they didn't quit, and Nuffle blessed them by reducing the stream of CAS they might have expected.

The Nurgle advance was slow and as the end zone came in sight the Elves were actually able to muster some offense. Against all odds the five surviving elves managed to sack the ball carrier twice. The ball bounced off the pitch and landed favourably for the Elves. The Nurglers then failed to pick it up.

Incredibly, the game ended 0 - 0. A moral victory if nothing else. I still don't know how to play High Elves though.
