The Bomber offense stalled when a timely wizard blast KO's ball carrier Buck Pierce and resulted in a lightning defensive TD to make it 2-0 before the middle of the first half.
Running a hurry up offense under immense pressure of the Mississauga defense, The Bombers demonstrated rare ChaosBall, going end to end from Milt Stegal to Justin Palardy to big man Steve Morely within striking range of the goal line.
Then came the hit that will echo in the Winnipeg fans ears for seasons to come. Aided by two Misfits, Hubris Rakarth's vicious blitz killed 'Iron Man' Morley and any chance to score a 1st half TD.
Winnipeg received in the second half and their hurry up offense ground down the right side into the end zone for a 2-1 score.
Hoping for a miracle, Winnipeg dedicated Steve Morley's sacrifice to their dark gods. Nuffle smiled for a moment when rookie Joannie Rochette's pass went wide of her receiver.
Winnipeg pounced on the ball and Buck Pierce, scooped the ball and rumbled for the endzone, but was stopped dead by a classic 'Wall 'o Elves'defense. Attempting to blitz and dodge his way free of three tackle zones in the final turn of the game, Buck tripped and the game was over.
With the passing of Steve Morley the heart and soul of the Winnipeg Claw Bombers has been ripped from their chest. Who will step up to replace him and lead the team to the glory they so richly deserve to heap upon their Dark Gods?”
