Well, this game I was dreading because my rookie Woodies taking on a heavy Orc team with some nice Blitzers with lots of tackle and mighty blow.
Jordell Freshbreeze was dragged in as a 12th player but he went very early with a dodge 1, reroll 1, badly hurt... and he was gone.
But a big skill less Black Orc triple skulled and then rerolled a triple both down and the orc thrower was sniped with a lightening bolt and the Wanderers were away and with a brief stall were up 1-0.
Already down in numbers due to plenty of KO's, I expected a long grind against me but with a "BLITZ" on the shallow kickoff, I was able to get in there and with some lucky ball bounces, I had the ball on my side of a short side screen.
Some pickups and handoffs in TZ's and I was suddenly 2-0 up.
With only 7 or 8 elves left, if I could score and go 3-0 up, I could play breathe easier.
Unfortunately, perfect defence caused the drive to stall and the ball was turned over deep in my own half. With plenty of time remaining, a Stomper blitzer stunned himself in the in goal area and it took another 2-3 turns for the Stompers to score.
With two turns to play, the Wanderers stalled out deep in their own field and managed to cling to a hard earned and surprising victory.
Commisserations to Favalessa, who was a bit down understandably to the bad luck he had, but was a good guy to play against.
Bring on Round 2!”
