#5 Stumps – Dead (RIP)
With both Treemen turning up before the first kick-off, the Dingleberries were confident that they could make an impression on their latest opponents, the Amazon team "Simpson".

The 'Berries kicked off, but were clearly unprepared for the sudden surge of Amazon players along their right flank. Every free Halfling commited themselves to halting the Amazon advance, but their efforts were in vain as Homer eventually ran in the ball into the endzone in the fourth turn to take the Amazons one-nil up.

The following kick off saw Slappy retrieving the ball and being hurled into the Amazon backfield by Jeff, only to be caught and stopped by the Amazon defense. Taking the ball from the now horizontal Halfling, the Amazons switched flanks and went for another running touchdown. Pushing himself a bit too hard, Homer stumbled going for an extra yard and took the chances of another touchdown before halftime with him.

With the Dingleberries' dugout housing three badly injured and one KO'd player, the second half saw a rather stretched Halfling team taking the field. The Amazon team took advantage of this and easily crushed the cage that the 'Berries attempted to build, snatching up a loose ball and passing it forward to Amazon Catcher Bart who ran it in for a third turn touchdown.

Looking to mute the Amazon confidence and put their own mark on the game, the 'Berries line advanced forward after receiving the kick-off, holding back the approaching players. Seeing an opportunity for a bit of Halfling ingenuity, Bingo handed the ball off to Yippy, who was swiftly picked up by the huge Treeman Neville and hurled over the Amazon's heads and into their backfield. A double backflip brought Yippy in to land, mere yards from the Amazon lines. With a chuckle, Yippy skipped his way into the endzone to score a touchdown and restore some pride to the Halfling team.

Feeling confident after their spectaular touchdown, the 'Berries kicked off with time still left to gain an equaliser. Seeing how happy the team were with Neville's throwing of Yippy, the Halfling's second Treeman, Jeff, grabbed Dongo in an attempt to throw him into the path of the ball carrier. Unfortunately, the Treeman gripped Dongo in a rather sensitve area, sending him to the floor crying and holding his crotch. Things didn't get any better, with Amazon Linewoman Apu killing the 'Berries' new recruit Stumps as he tried to retrieve the ball. The remaining turns were plagued by a succession of failing pick-ups and fumbled passes that finished the game in a rather admirable 2-1 defeat for the Dingleberries.

Another Halfling game that left me amazed. Great fun with some moments which really made this game. The two turn touchdown probably brought the luck factors closer together, as I did seem to be getting more failed blocks/pickups. Lost a player, but as Pippo said to me after the game "it's not like they cost much!" Hmm, wonder what Stumps' mother would say about that. :D A great opponent and a really fun match. Thanks again.
