And they were off! As Laxon Hrull ran back to collect the long kick, to take up his usual quaterbacking duties, the All-Stars front line looked to make some inroads into the Bererkers defence, but the Norsemen took their hits and shrugged them off. Both sides exchanged heavy blows to 'oohs' and 'ahhs' from the crowd but as the All-Stars formed a protective cage around Hrull neither side had yet landed a telling blow.
It was finally Jurgen Demonfeeder, the All-Stars' deadly alien blitzer, who broke the deadlock, KOing Norse lineman John Snow. Enraged, berserker Billy 'The terror' Jones blitzed All-Star lineman Contrisctor Atlanson killing him outright! The game decended into a bloody battle, with blitzers on both sides piling on and fouls flying. Perhaps the only cool head on the field was teh dark elf Hrull who quietly ran around the flank and whilst the two teams set about destroying eachother he calmly walked in the touchdown. 1-0 to the All-Stars.
Both sides did a good job patching up their players but still the second restarted with just nine Berserkers receiving against ten All-Stars. As Hrull kicked the ball, the fans of both teams decided they wanted in on the action and rocks were hurled onto the pitch. The early hits in the second half were always going to be important and it was Dirty Dan the All-Stars' goblin who got things going with a horrific foul on Jones. The whole crowd audiably winced and the norse apothecary rushed onto the field and surely saved Jones' life - amazingly or perhaps dubiously the ref didn't see it...
Spotting a chance on the opposite flank, the Berserkers put their faith in a passing play, but when journeyman lineman Richard Clearstone fumbled his pass Hrull swept in to claim the loose ball. The game had turned against the Berserkers and as the hits and fouls from the All-Stars rained in, and with a ref who was only interested in sending off the Norse, they quickly found themselves hopelessly outnumbered. As the end of the game drew near Hrull reluctantly handed the ball over to Garak Grigolson who walked in the second touchdown. Final score Chaos All-Stars 2-0 Greycrag Berserkers.
(Thanks for the game and good luck with your Norse.)”
