Crazy match. The Legion received first and went nowhere. They also got there very slowly. We managed to stall out our own drive about a turn away from the end zone. Dice weren't really behaving very orcishly, with the elves actually outbashing us, and our DP going off on his first sad little foul.
Second half, and here come the elf-stall. Over the field they go, bashing all the way (ha ha ha). The Lions look set to take the entire half, but Lor'themar, our victory-elf from GLT VII takes a 4+5+1db strip and makes it work, putting the scoop on top as a cherry. Of course, he was left in a TZ, a square from the EZ...
Instead of going for the surf, the Lion's ping-pong him, hoping to get the ball safe on the ground in their midst, rather than trusting the fickle assistance of a fan throw-in. I lost count, but there weren't any POWs in Ping-pong Land today. Trapped in 4 TZs, we bring a blitzer to poke a 3+2+ hole to escape through and make a Long Pass to a waiting BoB we were able to spare for a run downfield. (Animosity = 1)
Several turns of running later, we are poised near the EZ, but vulnerable. We didn't have enough fast orcs to provide a convoy in the time we had. Our screen gets elfed through, 2db net a POW, ball lands next to the sideline but doesn't go in. Ball zooms across the screen, THE LIONS WIN THE PENNANT, THE LIONS WIN THE PENNANT, I CAN'T BELIEVE WHAT I JUST SAW.
Spectacular, if unfortunate ending for the Legion's Cup run.

The Legion will lick their wounds and wait for next year's tourneys to start up. In the meantime I'll go back to playing my Firehurler team and writing the sequel.”
“Nice write-up.
Your blitzers definately lost the game for you as they were never able to get you the upper hand in terms of getting my players off the field. Still that incredible elf of yours almost stole the game, when I was pretty confident that I would be able to sit this out until T16.
That was really a super-star move and that after already completing a crucial play at the end of half 1 that robbed of a good chance to get the defensive-TD
Well, in the end neither of our teams are really favorites to win this one , so getting a spectacular/crazy half of this tourney is not that bad of a deal.
GG Maysrill. Gl for your team and with your book
