The first few turns of this game are something to behold. Lost 2 RR to a chef, worst possible kick, krox bonehead, blocks failed to remove anyone and then snaked the 2+ pickup (leaving me with 1 RR for the half after turn 1), only to have it bounce out and thrown back safely behind the amazon lines. The ladies retaliate and take out a blitzer (BH, apo'd) and secure the ball. Krox bonheads again, I scramble and throw up a defense but start losing the numbers game.
The zons turn 5 score gives me a shot to tie it up before the half, with 1 RR left. A perfect D allows them to reposition, and a score looks tough after I position the ball poorly, but the zons are not thinking about leaps and allow me an attempt with three 2+ rolls (with RR). I snake the scoring GFI (that's 2 RR stolen, and 2 snaked on the half), and then the zons marking rather than defensive positioning takes it's toll, as two more frogs go out due to the failed score.
Starting the second half the chef steals 3 RR (leaving me 1) and it's zons up 1-0 and 11 players to 9, receiving and looking like they have the game in the bag.
Blows are traded, and things look bleak for the frogs. I am tempted to use that last RR, but instead hope for a stalling mistake, and am rewarded on turn 3 with a shot at the ball. Salsa comes through and there is a glimmer of hope for OT. It's a tense few turns as I am down a few players and can't protect the ball, yet shot after shot fails and the Zons chew through RR without managing to turn up a pow (instead receiving an over sized helping of skulls)
Some good luck (and Salsa's awesomeness) helps me to an easy stall, though more frogs go out. There were temptations, but I am glad to have saved my 1 RR as we head into OT: I win the toss, but it's 6 frogs vs 9 zons and 1 RR to 2.
I take some initial risks with the setup and first turn, knowing that a blitz or mistake would be brutal, but thinking that I need some luck anyway to make it past 9 angry women. I'm rewarded with no blitz (phew) and a KO off the line... and then double skulls on the krox blitz. I opt to save the RR still, even though it means an easy pickup for a linewomen... who picks it up and GFI leaving little hope of recovery. I gamble and my last RR proves better than all the rest - blodger turned over and the ball bounces into Salsa's hands, but the position still seems hopeless unless Nuffle decides to be very kind.
Words fail me regarding that last drive, but suffice to say that it was epic and that nuffle was unkind to the poor amazons.
Thanks to JackassRampant for a great game. I know it smarts to go out in a blaze of bad luck like that. Then again, my first half was pretty bad too, so maybe it's a wash at the end of the day. Well played, sir!”
