“A closely fought match. The Hell-Lords started in offence but were instantly on the backfoot thanks to a sudden blitz by the 'Ard-Ladz.
The Hell-Lords were able to recover the loose ball and form a loose cage just behind the line of scrimmage whilst they exchanged blows with their greenskinned opponents.
The Hell-Lords momentarily lost the ball when a Black Orc Blocker dodged away from his defender and crumped their ball carrier! However, the Hell-Lords again recovered the ball and eventually ran it to safety downfield for a late score in the first half.
In the second half, the Ladz started off with the ball and they were found themselves under heavy pressure as the ball carrier was hit again and again but managed to remain on his feet (2x 2 dice blocks rerolled, but no pows or dodge/pows!!!).
The Ladz swung the ball towards the left and survived another attack on the ball carrier (2dice block rerolled needing a pow this time) but found themselves close to the sidelines.
It looked like the Ladz would score as their Goblin player could set up an assist to allow their ball carrier to blitz his way to the end zone (needing just a push) but the Hell-Lord Hobgoblin who was defending the Ladz Gobbo was able to tackle him as he tried to dodge away!
The Hell-Lords pushed the Ladz ball carrier out of bounds and the game was effectively over from there.
----
A very tough match. My opponent gave me an opening early in the second half when he didn't see I had Guard and ended up doing a 1 dice block instead of two, and he rolled a Skull, rerolled into a Skull again. This game me my first two dice blitz with a reroll on his ball carrier but he survived!
I set up another a turn later but again he survived! But then he was quite unlucky to fail the critical dodge with his Gobbo to set up what would have been a certain TD and this made it very difficult for him to score from there.
A very hard fought game, and I look forward to a rematch sometime!”
