#18 Brian Hottree – Fractured Leg (MNG) #19 Kevin Darkbrook – Smashed Ankle (-MA)
“Yeah was a great game, i was surprised as to what snotlings can do when the chips are down. Shame my ogres didn't kill anybody, but I think they are so dumb they took your team name literally. Good to play you, I've added you to my buddy list.”
“As it turns out, there are no real subtleties when it comes to playing an ogre team: you're either going to get smashed by the ogres themselves, or the snotlings are going to grab the ball and simply dodge through you. So, when a wall of ogre come forward, with a wave of snotlings(one of which who was holding the ball) behind it, we met the wall with a wall(albeit a much smaller wall), and went around the sides to contain the wave. A well placed blitz and the ball scattered away from the snotlings, as our catcher came through to grab the loose ball and dodge away. Meanwhile, the ogres and snotlings were busy knocking two of the human players unconscious, giving themselves a numbers advantage. But we humans answered back, knocking the pesky little green things into the pitch, leveling things out, as we made it to the endzone.
A blitz on the following kick off, followed by a stumbling ogre turnover, and we were in the backfield, with only a handful of snotlings to stop us. After a quick bobble of the ball by both teams, the human dashed across the goal line for their second touchdown, just as the first half closed; but not before the ogres had the opportunity to fracture the skull of linemen Number 13. Ouch!
Second half started with a bobbled pick up attempt, one which the snotling made the most out of. They stormed their way through, with some help for a ogre, captured the ball, and made it dangerously close to scoring position. A heroic blitz and the ball was freed in the endzone, and bounced into our hands. Time to get the heck out of there! But the snotling again came dodging through, setting up an amazing block against the blitzer holding the ball, knocking him to the ground. But the could not recover the ball, as it bounced into the hands of a linemen. Several aggressive block and a blitz later, the ball was handed off to the catch, so he could put some distance between the snotlings and the ball. But the ogres did not give up, marking the catcher at every turn, necessitating dodge roll after dodge roll, blitz after blitz. In the end, we came up a little short(went for the reroll on a block against an ogre: double skulls), but still walked away with a victory.
It was an awesome match, enjoyed by bother coaches. Though, when PaddyMick mentioned that he normally had six (6) ogres on his team, not the three(3) that I was facing, I became very thankful. Three hulking masses with guard and break tackle are enough to deal with.”
