1st half, I scored about half way thru with a pass to a troll slayer. Basically, went one way, got jammed up, tried to reverse directions, but dwarves are slow, and it didn't work well. Only chance I saw was to get the ball down field to a slayer I had moved into the backfield (to take off some pressure on the line really). I was really only hoping to clear the ball back, but he caught the pass and made the GFI's for the TD. Then I was able to hold off the Orc advance, with the help of the dice..his 2db's got pushes (or worse) and my 1db's (not every block, but I did throw several) were knockdowns.
2nd half, the luck eventually turned, I suddenly couldn't dodge, and his 2db's began to work. It looked to be going for a stall to OT, but I managed to free up enough players to threaten the BC enough to force the score on turn 7, giving me 2 turns to score.
Perfect defense threaten to throw a wrench in my 'go deep and pray' strategy (easier done with my skaven team, btw). Anyway got a runner 6 squares deep into orc territory, and the ball safely in the backfield. Then managed to get some protection for the runner. Then I made 2 4+ and one 3+ dodge to get Tim 6 squares deep into orc territory on the opposite side of the pitch--giving him two potential targets to cover. Came down to a str 4 agil 4 orc trying to blitz my runner (after putting the blitzer in a TZ), he had to use his last rr on the dodge, and then failed the GFI to hit my runner. Leaving him wide open. A pass, catch and GFI later, I had won the game.
See, dwarves CAN pass :)
no new skills.
oh, forgot I got an extra apoth, so didn't use one on the lone injury of the game. Bloodwiser babes failed to help on the 3 KO rolls. And the magic item never activated (Tim never failed an AV roll)
