#3 Ed Norton – Dead (RIP)
Kondor crossed the pitch and thanked Coach Ulvardar for the match. It was well played on both sides and Kondor knew he was fortunate that this one came out to be a win. Coach Ulvardar had to make some difficult choices towards the end of the match that would have made him the hero of the match if things had gone differently.

Instead, the hero of this match was easily Haughty Hulk.

In the first half, the Doomblades received and began their ground and pound. Within two turns, both secret weapons, a spare gobo and a troll were on the sidelines. With 5 mighty blows on the team, the ground and pound took its toll and all but 3 players were in the KO box by the end of turn 4. Still, only one player turned out to be Important. In the bottom of turn 4, Haughty pulled off a one die blitz on the elf carrying the ball. The elf went down stunned and the ball bounced into Haughty's hands. The ensuing blitz failed to bring her down and she side stepped to a safe square. At that point it was off to the races. With AG4 and stunty she easilly dodged through numerous tackle zones and did 2 GFI to get out of reach or most of the team. Again, the blitz that followed failed to bring her down and she skipped in in for the point at the bottom of turn 6.

A few Gobos answered the call to finish the half, but they were inspired by Haughty. She knocked down the only player within scoring range before halftime, and then the ogre midget toss failed.

Second half came and it was an amazing play. The Gobos played well enough to ensure that they would at least have a draw. Dorjack Sureclaw even managed to badly hurt Haughty, but the Apo patched her up knowing full well that she could be needed. The Doomblades cleared the pitch of all but the trolls. That is when the dilema struck. Do you stall out a draw vs Gobos, or do you score and play for the steal and the win.

Coach Ulvardar did exactly what I would have done. He played for the win. At the bottom of turn 6, the Hulks set up for the midget toss. She Hulk brushed off the marking lineman, and the ball was handed to Haughty. The Incredible Hulk had never attempted to toss her, and she was quite nervous about the prospect of flight. Suddenly, she was in the air with the ground coming up fast. Naturally she tucked and rolled as she touched the ground. She never missed a beat as she stood and ran in for the score.

Still, there was time on the clock, and the Darkblades would surely attempt to toss their own Agility 4 midget. The effort was complicated as the kick was deep. Then, Kondor was shocked when no chos player moved within scoring range choosing to bash instead. With both trolls covering the ogre and troll, tossing Garbage the Goblin would be difficult. Time expired with the Doomblades unable to make a scoring attempt.

-------------------------

Thanks for the match Coach Ulvardar. I will be honest, at the end of tunr 4 in the first half, I considered conceeding. I don't know why I hung through it. Also, the decision to score in the second half was a good one. I made the same decision in going for the win with a TTM. If I had turned it over there, you surely would have won. It just did not work out for you this time.

Rematch any time you want it.
