“The premier for both me as a coach and my Woodhuggers was a blasting success. Being hugely outmaned as Gnarloak Greenleaf stayed in his forest first half, and one other player was Knocked out fairly early this turned into a 9 vs 11 match.
Hunky Howitzers players, sensing an easy victory allowed themselves mistake after mistake though - tripping over, running around confused and dropping the ball - not much of a problem outrunning them and scoring two quick TDs in the first half.
Howitzers Minotaur, Klaath M'crath, tried to foul Lómadriewyn Tang, but the referee payed close attention and he was booked for the rest of the match making it a more balanced 9 Woodhugers vs. 10 Howitzers.
As the end of the first half was approaching Howitzers started a full scale assault that might have ended in a counter TD. The end of the half saved us though.
The second half started with an even 10 vs. 10 as Gnarloak Greenleaves finally arrived. And this half was the half of the fans - Early in the round Woodhugger fans managed to hurl a rock at a Howitzer player which gave us the decisive advantage to score yet another TD. A little later we conviced the referee to be a little more friendly to us when our fans rescued him from the angry Howitzer's horde ... but then Howitzers fans got wild invading the field and knocking down 6 of Woodhuggers players, injuring Threbinduil Nynd's back badly - an injury he will not fully recover from.
That horrible incident was the starting poing of another full scale attack of the Howitzers, that could have evened out the score a little - if Howitzers would have been a little less clumsy and better organized. After one of their players had been knocked of the field the situation turned though, and the Woodhuggers where on their way to the fourth TD! Sadly, the referee whistled for the end of the game before Lòmadriewyn Tang managed to score his second TD.
The clear star of the game was the Woodhuggers Catcher Glithrambor Culas scoring a marvelous 11 SPP!
All in all a magnificent start in the League for the Cuddly Woodhuggers - and we already agreed to attempt a rematch with the Hunky Howitzers' Coach soon.”
