The girls we missing two of their stronger players who were injured in a first-round defeat in their first ever appearance in a FUMBBL minor tournament, so anything was possible in this match up. The skaven quickly went to work, knocking out a journey linezon, and getting the ball into the hands of one of their gutter runners. We answered back by placing ourselves in a net pattern, giving us the ability to grab any rat that attempted to sneak through. The rats formed a circle behind the line of scrimmage, but left the gutter runner holding the ball standing outside the circle, all alone. This, coupled with their ratorge having stumbled in a blitz attempt, was the opportunity we were looking for to make something happen. Setting up a ellipse between the rest of the skaven team and the ball carrier, we sent in Corinne to tackle the gutter runner to the ground. She quickly gained the ball, just just as quickly suffered a massive blitz, fracturing her skull. The apothecary was able to fix the injury, but we were all worried for a second. But this only encouraged the skaven team, as a gutter runner ran in to gather up the ball in an attempt to hand the ball safely to a blitzer behind him. I say "attempted", because the blitzer bobbled the hand-off, and the ball bounced away. We blitzed in and covered the, all within scoring distance, with the skaven attempt to push the ball away only pushing the ball closer towards the endzone. A spectacular leap attempt was made by a gutter runner, but he could not stick the landing, and knocked himself out, and pushed the ball into the hands of Colleen in the process. With a chainsaw buried in the chest of the ratorge, and Julie removing the rat thrower for the rest of the match, Colleen took the opportunity to score a touchdown. 1-0, us.

With the following kick-off the sun began to set, the angle making it difficult to see, wrecking havoc on pass attempts. The skaven did their best to injure some 'zons, and we answered back, knocking rats to the pitch, as the gutter runner with the ball held back along his own goalline. Their only chance of scoring was taken away when their one remaining gutter runner was taken off of his feet by Karen. We missed an opportunity to attempt a blitz against the ball carrier, and paid for it with the ratorge taking Stacy out of the match, as the whistle blew, ending the first half, 1-0.
