“A brutal dicing of the fledgling Toronto WAARGHonauts by the veteran Winnipeg Claw Bombers.
Brendan Dunn KO'd Center Juffuh Neekappa on the first block of the game and the troll never returned to the game citing an 'upperz headz' injury.
That hit set the tone for both sides for the rest of the game. Plenty of pushing and shoving but nothing bigger than a few bells rung.
Toronto's best scoring chance came in the first half when their wizard knocked down Buck Pierce and his entourage deep in WAARGHonauts territory. A blitz, and a pass put the ball back in Bomber's half but not out of range of Brendan LaBatte who brought down the ballcarrier. Winnipeg worked the ball back upfield for a score of 1-0 at the end of the first half.
Between the missing troll and Winnipeg's guards, the second half was all Bombers. Two defensive TDs by Rookie beast Jake Thomas and Carl Volney fir a final score pass for 3-0 as the final whistle blew.
The Bombers might be the bullies of the CFFL. Steamrolling new teams but unable to fight for victory against the other big boys of the playground...”
