A tale of two halves. Firehurler came out strong out of the gate, pummeling the Outriders into submission through force of will.
Don't know what got into the coach at halftime but it must have been a rousing speech, full of begging and threats, and the Outriders responded, giving Firehurler a taste of it's own medicine.
A turn 7 score saw the common play turned on it's head as a catcher scooped up a bouncing ball and threw a long pinpoint strike to a thrower waiting patiently by the end zone line.
Sometimes you have to be please to score a hard fought tie against a skilled coach and maysrill is that. A great sport and a fun opponent to boot.
“Our shorthanded match got off to a roaring start! The characters of Firehurler started knocking heads and rolled to an early 2-0 lead. We balled like elves and bashed like...well, maybe a rookie norse team, but certainly respectably.
Second half, things started getting a bit slippery. The Ostland Outriders really started putting a bit of a hurt on us, outnumbering us 11 to 7 after a bit of unfortunate personnel slippage around halftime. We struggled to slow them, and gave up a quick score. Then on a rather defensive offensive drive, we got smacked in the face with a Blitz! kickoff. We kinda sorta recovered from it, getting a pass away and up the field a bit, but the key dodge to cut off the blitz on the ball fell short. We lost the ball but the Outriders didn't recover it either, then we heaved it across the field in another elfy play that looked like it might preserve the win. Alas, we lose it again as overwhelming numbers grind us up, and a T8 pass ties it 2-2.
But wait! RIOT!!!!
We get another shot. We run 2 blitzers upfield, but the Outriders maul them. We try a bunch of stuff in the desperation turn, but the ball bounces into THEIR hands, and we settle for a hard-fought tie.
GG StickandMove. I see you as a potential recurring adversary!”
