After a score on turn 5, I got the ball back to recover the half... Blitz! again. This time the ball was deep enough not to be snatched instantly, and because Dustbunny overextended I could advance fairly safely with a passing play. Except: fireball on my 4-man sideline cage: BH pomber, KO'd statfreak ballcarrier, and the other 2 prone. Looks like an easy 2-0, but the dodge catcher stalls a turn, gets pow'ed (no RR) but then a 3+ 3+ 1 die 2+ 2+ play sees the codger's star dancer score on turn 8 after all.
A failed oneturn attempt (4 pows on the first 4 dice =) leaves the second half looking grim. Although some BHs on rookie linos mean I'm playing 11 vs 8, I'm still 2-0 behing and kicking... Blitz! 2-1.
Now we're playng 11 vs 7. The codgers try to play conservatively, hanging way back with most of their players, while only sending 2 out to threaten a score. With enough players to mark those AND threaten the cage, Dustbunny is pressed hard, and some ones leave him open. 2-2
The final drive, 3 turns to go and both teams looking for the winning TD. A guarded sideline cage makes a sack tricky and the result unpredictable. Instead I clog up the side and blitz out the wardancer. Rather than dodging the ball from my diving tackle, Dustbunny makes a blocking play in place, and I manage to clog the side up enough that sidestep isn't enough to prevent a surf. A last pass and run for a final score of 3-2.”
