With a wizard and Ripper Bolgrot in tow, the orcs were eager to cause an upset against their highly rated opponents. However, Coach Strider had publicly announced before the game that ranks were to be thinned before entry to the upcoming GLT IX. Lineman especially were playing for their places.
One in particular would rise to the challenge. At kick off, Red Corsair receiving, the orcs had their eyes on the impressive human blitzers waiting for the first blitz. Instead, John "sneaky" Wyler lived up to his nickname and snuck around the side, knocking out Steel.
The wizard was deployed early, and Aztec used his juggernaut ability to good effect, but flunked the dodge. The ogre Dave thought, "Right then! I'm going first!" And knocked himself over (double skulls). Aztec picked himself up and made for the sideline. A plucky lineman sacked him, and the ball was thrown by the crowd back to the middle of the pitch.
Carve scooped it up and made for Aztec's position. The legend blitzer was ready to hold off the Red Corsair attempts to recover the ball. A wrestler pulled him down, and that damn sneaky John Wyler stomped on him - badly hurt, but the apothecary patched him up.
The foul seemed to throw the orcs into a panic. Major got too eager and blitzed, forcing Carve to go backwards. Super lineman Jack "the schnuuuz" Evens steamed through and killed the wayward blitzer to set up 0-1, but not before more drama.
The adrenaline now pumping for John "sneaky" Wyler, he went for another foul - but failed the dodge and killed himself. Down in a blaze of glory!!!
Ripper Bolgrot thought he had the better of the ogre, but knocked himself down (both downs) and was badly hurt. A tough ending to the half for the 'Saws.
The orc drive was less eventful as a fairly tactical affair saw a scrap for the ball, and Aztec repaid the faith shown and eventually scored for 1-1.
Great game Striker! Look forward to a rematch after your GLT exploits.”
