Boom-boom! In the blink of an eye, first journeyman George Paleeagle was knocked out and then - to the horror of the Rangers' fans - Gladewarden Longbranch their talismanic treeman fell to a chaotic chant of "Timber!!! Timber!!! Timber!!!"
Superstar wardancer Malfinor Wildheart led the Rangers' defensive charge as hsi team mates formed around him. Where would hefty beastean quarterback Hope II find cover?
Showing more discipline than the average chaos team, the well drilled Nurgle killers formed and reformed their shield of players whilst trying to take out as many elves as possible.
Fearing a leaping Wildheart blitz, Hope II retreated deep into his own half but Wildheart pursued him. Finally, as the ref checked his watch, deep into the first half, Hope II made his break. Calling six team mates to cover him he hoped to be safe as Nurgle Warrior 'Death' took out another woodelf lineman.
Wildheart called the play. Karillion Starfire, doing what they had practiced a hundered times in training, leaped into the middle of the Nurgle cage and was soon folloed by Wildheart. Thwack! Hope II was out for the count! The ball spilled loose, but under pressure Ranger's catcher Ragon Swiftwind was unable to gather the ball to make the opening score.
Dispair VI, the two headed beastman, retrieved the ball and took up quaterbacking duties but Wildheart had him in his sights. Boom! Dispair was gone. Ragon Swiftwind doged his way hopefully into th endzone and When Starfire leaped over the Nurgle line and scooped up the ball the touchdown looked certain. But no! Starfire fumbled his pass!
Ragon was bundled into touch but Wildheart and Starfire fought for the ball against half a dosen Nurgle killers. But when Starfire failed to pick up the ball, the chance was gone for the Rangers and finally the ref blew his whistle to end an eventful but goaless first half.
