“HUBBA Season 5; Division 3 - Round 4

Decadence' 4th round match against the Boglins was very much a tale of 2 halves, and was ultimately decided when the little guy's crowd support came to bear.

The first half went exactly according to plan for Decadence. They ground down the Goblin drive and prevented the score, avoided injury from the multitude of weapons and had them all sent off. As the goblins set up for the second half with 10 players and Decadence brought Ugroth off the bench everything was in place for a textbook winning performance. But thing soon started to unravel.

Whether the Boglin trolls had beefed up on funny mushrooms at half time, or whether the Chaos gods were just displeased with the lack of casualties the pact were causing, in the second half the trolls were on fire and the pact were cursed with failure. It started to go wrong almost immediately as Lucius' frenzied drive down the pitch failured to injure hit goblin target and instead got him punched to death by a troll as his nose ring was driven through his skull. This shook the pact, and they tried to move the ball faster and switched to the opposite side, Fulgrim leading the cage that would drive down field. A moment later and he too was in the dugout, knocked unconcious by a mighty troll fist. Things were going downhill fast, and Decadence moved the play along the sideline. The goblins now outnumbered them, and flooded the channel. The largely greenskin crowd grew restless, booing the pact as their drive stalled. In a moment of bravery or stupidity the pact tried to seize on a chance. A bold marauder tried to break open a hole, only needing to drive the goblin back a small way to make space. But the goblin was backed up by a mighty troll, and the marauder got driven back himself. The Boglins took their chance and blitzed the ballcarrier into the crowd. The crowd loved this, cheering on their comrades and launching the ball the length of the field straigh into the hands of a lone goblin waiting on the halfway line. It was too late in the game, there was no catching him. The goblin ran free of the last marauder. He sprinted back trying to catch him and dived on him, hurting himself in the process, but even this wasn't enough. The pact were low on players and still committed to a drive at the other end of the field. The goblins ran in the score for a historic win and the pact skulked away licking their wounds.

They are now left to plead with the gods for the return of Lucius. The team will miss his power. Maybe his next incarnation will have sharper claws...”
