It started promisingly for BattleLore with an early casualty of a loner.
When the wizard's fireball turned out to be a mere illusion, and the chainsaw kicked back twice in two attempts to foul - the 2nd time knocking Max out - I was anxious about how to win a game with essentially no inducements and 400TV down in killer beastmen.
Then a brutal turn saw 3 casualties - including an apothecary fail - which swung the match massively in my favour. However, I was left to rue a wasted reroll as Bumblebee failed the 2+ dodge for a chance to score a 1st half equalizer.
The 2nd half it was more of the same, but just as the game was looking over for Blood Red with 6 players in the casualty box, Bumblebee snaked a dodge and I was unable to prevent the counter attack score.
2-0 down, without rerolls, but the Allsparks scored with time running out. Then a riot! There was a chance! Pressure was put on the Blood Red players, and the punt attempted. It bounced off the side and was thrown back into the melee! The players were cleared. All that remained was the pass for a remarkable recovery and overtime... intercepted! Incredible action and applause all round.
Congratulations on the great victory BattleLore. Victory slipped from my grasp!”
