We started off with Big King advancing with the ball and other squigs taking opponents to the ground, though Thalie's thick skull protected him from being hurt by Hardetz Nutz jumping on him. Beruier, a Gnoblar, then immediately badly hurt the reckless, prone Devil with his mates in a gangfoul. Big King and his support went diagonally, steadily looking more trapped but he shrugged off some tentacles, barged a gnoblar aside and then leapt over the waiting bully to add another impressived td to his career.
After kickoff Monkey was ko'd by Euphrosyne (out for most of the match) and when both(!) our squig riders got lusty and ko'd our own players it looked like we were going to get seriously outbashed. Another gobbo was badly hurt and just as the Gnoblars were about to make gains into our half a trapper tripped up. Tahiti Mel was left stranded, both squig riders bore down on him and Big King smashed him to the floor. We had the ball covered but couldn't get it away and Big King almost invited disaster when he made a very poor blocking effort against an Ogre and fell. Still the half ended 1-0.
We set up with 10 v 11 but were soon down to 7 players after an awesome start from the gnoblars causing a badly hurt, serious injury and a ko to 3 herders. They moved their attack to a flank but we did see a glint of hope as Devil clawed ogre Aglae's jaw and ended his match. The gnoblar bully, Count Gnobell, then received a handoff and dashed over the line to score through the flank gap.
We setup 8 v 11 but enjoyed receiving a touchback. Thaile's thick skull again kept him on the pitch when taken down. As the gnoblars manouvered their trappy players to block us we pushed some players about and then Hardest Nutz had a crack at the important Euphrosyne. He clawed at the knee of the big creature and made it a bloody mess. The ogre's career may be hobbled at a result of that. That was a crucial hit to their power and then after some skirmishing and a brief halt Big King leapt his way to another td. The hero again!
