The final round of their first HUBBA season saw Decadence take on coach Chainsaw's humans, It's Cold Outside. The humans were clear favourites going into the game, and had the chance to top the league with a win, but that's not how it played out. There was a massive difference in quality between the sides and Decadence capatain Joshua knew they had a big task ahead.
They spent the build up to the game strategising with new offensive coach John 'Madman' Earl. He immediately ringed the changes, suggesting they cut all injured players and bring in some more muscle up front, and until they could find a permanent replacement they should source a decent journeyman blocker for the match. Well, they sourced the best, signing up legendary blocker Morg'n'Thorg on a one game contract worth more that the other players made in a season. The theory was that if he made the difference and they came out with a win then their win bonus would cover the expense. It was a gamble, but a good one.
In fact, this was a game where the pact stormed out of the blocks and never slowed down. Morg injured a lineman with the first block of the match, and ace Cold blitzer Cat needed all the apothecary's attention when he was temporarily killed on the field. It was turning into a massacre, almost a pitch clear in both halves, as John 'Madman' just stood there, arms folded, grinning. "They're not so tough without all that padding in their armour" he was heard to say after the game, while warming his hands on a large equipment-shaped bonfire.
Coach Chainsaw will now have a tough time recovering for his next game, with 4 players missing, but after a long season it is It's Cold Outside that will be moving up to division 2 next season. Decadence finished the season in 5th, just outside the playoffs, and but for some cruel luck along the way they could have made it in. The players believe that Slaanesh is teaching them a lesson. If they're going to perfect their game they can't be reliant on luck and chance. That's Tzeench's game. No, this pact team must thrive on brilliance.”
