“Tough game for poor Quod. He played well enough but the dice just loved me and he suffered for it.
My luck percentage looks low, but that's after a reload in the first half and some rather foolhardly plays in the second. The vast majority of the important rolls went off without a hitch.
Quod's got a good solid team there with a very strong (lots of guard and such) but not team-wrecking (not a single +armor or +inj skill!) emphasis. He plays a tough, solid game - a lot like a well-coached orc team - but is NOT trying to wipe a team into retirement. Really. Don't dodge these guys...
Ok, lemme see.. The tree sat out the first half, so I only had 8 players to start with. When Nuffle gives his blessing, however, that's plenty. All scores were by my rookie catcher because I wanted to give him a jump start. Seemed to work out well enough.
Scored in 2, kicked off, picked off a pass with the AG5 NOS passblocking WD and scored dumped off to the catcher again. Final drive of the first half I managed to trip up the ballcarrier and snag it with the AG 5 WD again to get it to the catcher, etc...etc... Half ended 3-0 Elves with one BH at that point, I believe.
Second half, The Scholars drove in a very nicely executed drive. I got 1 or two shots on the ballcarrier but nothing terribly likely (the ball-stripping WD was out of position) and I managed to pop the ball loose into a mob midfield at one point. He recovered, however and scored near the turn 3 or 4. I managed to sneak in another one and that was the game. 4-1.
When you consider that the interception could have easily been an extra point for him and a point less for me, it really wasn't a blow out, but a rather close game. One crucial play, however made the score look a little more lopsided.
Thanks again for the match, Quod. It was a pleasure. And everyone reading this: don't dodge The Scholars!”
