“Really tense game, mainly due to there being only 2 players on each who could reliably lay down the hurt.
Things started of slow, mostly focussed on positioning (not a bad thing, but surprisingly uncommon in stunty!). It looked like the Hunnen were about to place themselves in a comfortable scoring position, but a bomb decided otherwise. Reinhold, the agile hopper, was ko'd for the rest of the game and the fans were very kind to the Limiteers, throwing the ball behind their screen.
Next turn, Skryre got the ball and passed (4+) the ball forward. Perhaps a risky move, but it paid off and Diomedes started a long run towards the endzone. The Squig Herders were somewhat outpositioned and couldn't keep up.
T7 defensive TD meant some extra bashing on the los, but the second half started with 11 vs 10 for Skryre due to their ko's coming back and the Hunnen's not. The Limiteers got the ball, caged up and never left their half due to some excellent defending from the Herders though, to be fair, the rats never really tried as they didn't need to. A couple of turns of attrition followed which were won by the Squig Herders.
In the end, the Hunnen did have to attack the cage, smashing one of the corners. Tereus escaped and punted the ball into relative safety. One herder was still in range though and a miracle pass seemed in the works but he mistimed his steps and failed a dodge.
Good game, and you'll certainly get your rematch one of these days.
As a side note: I don't know what to think of this cage up tactic I employed. It's the smart thing to do obviously (though I may have made mistakes obviously), but it's awfully close to stalling. Thing is that it wasn't exactly suicide trying to score. I would have played rather differently if the scoreline had been level at that point. I think it comes down to what you find fun about bb, and while I appreciate the amount of tactics and strategy involved with these kinds of plays (e.g. stalling, 2-1 grind, etc.), it's not something I personally enjoy. Neither as being on the receiving end of it and as the person doing it.
I just think it would've been more fun for the both of us if I had actually tried to score, even with the risk of losing the ball and the match ending as a draw.
But once I got into the cage, I couldn't get out, nor through so I had to stick with it. And it was still fun, but not as fun as it could've been. So next time, I'll avoid it. [Until I get frustrated by losing/drawing everytime! ;)]”
