It was a brutal game as expected. We won the coin flip and elected to receive - but the chaos halflines were ready with a perfect defense! The went all out - stacking the LOS against our squigs. We thought this would work for us, as we had plenty of blocks including 6 dice on their chaos spawn with our squigs. Alas we just shoved them around a little...we obviously were not yet into the match.
Well a rude awaking as the chaos halflings were inspired! Their first four blocks of the game: 4 CAS. Yikes. Suddenly the Lost Paladins realized they were in a fight for their lives and started to buckle down. Thanks to no RRs and some poor block dice by the chaos halflings - we even survived having our hopper bolted from the sky. However, our numbers were dwindling...now obviously the squigs were VERY well fed, because they did not fail any bloodlusts...but they also did not hurt anything. However, once the game go going, the blood started flowing - then Jackel Jay sat on one chaos spawn and Alric Destroyer clawed the other...both chaos spawn injured and neither regened - so it was no more big guys for the chaos halflings.
Have to give a shout out to King Tot though - dude was a beast with 3 CAS and some KOs as well. Logan got a CAS on his only block of the game, but spent most of the game munching snacks on the sidelines pretending to be hurt.
With the score 1-0 at the half, it was 10 vs 11 in favor of the chaos halflings to start the second half...the battle raged and we failed our shots to take down the ballcarrier, Gogg. Eventually he dodges right past our tackler and into the endzone for the score.
Three turns remained and that was plenty of time for Aidan (MA 8 with sprint/sure feet) - helped by more failed blocks by the chaos halflings - he raced down the field and only snakes on the gfis would have stopped him...but he raced into the endzone for the victory!
Fun game and with the great start the c. halflings had - it made the game very competitive throughout. Thanks!”
