The Quarter Final of the HUBBA Bowl saw Decadence face off against a far superior opponent in 'Rot' Your World - followers of another of the chaos gods, the plagued one Nurgle. After his outstanding performance in the league coach John 'Madman' Earl drafted in legend Morg'n'Thorg for a second showing.
There was a large gap in quality between the sides, with the Nurgle playing at the highest level of the league compared to the inexperinced Pact, and they made this tell from the start - controlling their defence and the movement of the ball upfield. The big moment of the first half though came from a simple mistake by the pact side. Eager to get the ball moving upfield they attempted a hand-off near the line of scrimmage, hoping to sling-shot new boy Judas down the wing away from their slower oppoents. The rat though wasn't ready for what faced him. Clouds of flies and a horrible stench - even by Skaven standards - was enough to leave him choking for breath, eyes streaming, as the ball bounced off his chest and lay on the floor next to him. The Nurgle had the players, especially in the supernaturally agile Jack Mort, to gather the ball and burst straight through the middle of the Decadence line.
The second half was much closer, and quite a contest. Only the favour of Nurgle's regeneration kept the Rot in the game as all 5 players removed from the field climbed back onto the pitch. Coming from a score behind and kicking to their stronger opponents though was always likely to be tough and Rot Your World deservedly proceeded onto the Semi.
Coach John will now look to sharpen up in a couple of pre-season matches before a big push for promotion next term.”
