The underdog wins \o/
I came into this match with 2 concerns: 4 really awesome blitzers, and giving up 300k in inducements. I fired an unskilled zombie to mitigate the inducements. It ended up not mattering as the wizard was never used. The babe worked quite well and the humans could have afforded that no matter what I did. Instead, they bought an extra body which probably helped.
In spite of losing, it was a fun game. The humans played very well, using all their strengths and keeping my necros on their unliving toes. The human DPs probably did more harm than any of the blitzers, but my Regen was on fire so I at least got players back. But having both wolves on the field for a combined 15 turns was not good. And the niggle on Rock Me Amadeus came back to haunt him as he missed 7 turns in the 2nd half. I did have some rotten dice, but it wasn't until after I made 2 big mistakes. 1st, I left star ghoul I Ran (So Far Away) hanging out to dry where the blitzers could easily reach him in the 1st half. That led to a turnover and a defensive score. Then after I completely botched the 1 turn score attempt, I forgot that the humans would get one more turn before the half ended. I could have easily prevented a 2 die block on the niggled golem, but I just hit end turn after the pass. Naturally, they broke armor (with a 10) and rolled an 8 on the injury. All this without Mighty Blow, mind you! Both mistakes did more damage than all the bad dice combined. I blame that on having to get up early on a Saturday, but PacoSillas is a very good human coach and I knew that coming in. He was quick to act on my mistakes and I give him credit for pushing me hard enough to make mistakes in the first place.
MTV gave it a good run, but came up short. Necros will have to wait til the next major to be un-forlorned, but humans still have hope. And that hope is named the Averheim Rangers. Go get 'em, Volker Lichtenkagel!”
