We started out pretty well, KOing a Dwarf and ceding a saurus KO (we had a Babe) for an ejected Hobgoblin. But on turn 3, things went to hell, with a double skull followed by another double skull, giving the Dwarves a clean hit on our best skink, who suffered a niggling injury. We struggled to free the ball-carrier, but another skink went BH on a dodge, soon followed by another out on a fruitless foul. We raced in the score. The Chaos Dwarves responded on the LOS by RIPing a Block saurus and sending The Tunneler out for next game, but could not secure a TD in only 2 turns.
The next drive the dice really went south for the lizards, with worthless blocks, and 3 consecutive failed GFI rolls. The Dwarves walked in the score on turn 5. Thanks to some failed blocks of their own, both sides were now out of RRs, but it was 5 Saurus and 1 Skink vs 5 Dwarves, 3 Hobgoblins and a Centaur.
In the last drive, both sides benefited from some Brilliant Coaching, and the lizards were lucky enough with the kick, pick-up, and opening blocks. This time, however, Nuffle turned his gaze on the Chaos Dwarves, and hit them with their own set of snake-eyes. The saurus rushed in to screen the skink, and the lizards score an unlikely TD on turn 7.
Turn 8, naturally, the Dwarves ensure that the aforementioned skink will never step onto a pitch again.
An unexpected win–– one which I might have gladly traded to still have a functioning team! But these choices are not for us. Coach Chaosdida played a good one.
