“Second game of the FUMBBL Cup XII

We were facing the 9th Squad Bridgeburners. What happened to the 8 previous we shall not know but this is the story of how Mortarz defeated the 9th..

First of some tactical changes to the team were made by coach. Dropping 2 rookie zombies not to give away too much handicap. After all, the team had 17 players at the end of last game =). This turned out a good move. 1 handicap was given tho and it was the babes.


First half started with Mortarz on the offence. And coach had given clear orders, nice and slow boys, make sure the elfs get to taste it good on the way to the TD line.
The elfs turned out to be sturdier than expected. Despite a lot of blocks and punches, the only outcome was one BH assassin and one KO elf. However a TD came in turn 6 as well. The elfs replied quickly evening the score out in last turn. 1-1 going into second half.

Second half, the elfs then pretty much repeated their maneuver and scored quickly for 2-1. Still not suffering too hard on the casualty side either. Game on!

Mortarz started grinding. Then, a few turns in half way in second half the elves managed to flank our loose cage and KO our AG 4 ghoul.. Potential disaster was looming. It looked even worse when they picked up the ball and their AG 5 runner was aiming a pass. Then and there the miracle happened. Ghoul #6 Urban turned out to be quite the hero, intercepting in a tough spot to save the coach from utter humiliation.. This was enough to equalize and get into OT.

OT - Coin toss again put Mortarz on the offence and OT turned out to be tough on the elves. They were not fit to fight another 8 turns as it looked. Also the undeads stepped up the heat, putting in a few fouls here and there sending player's off rapidly. Still they managed one last break and were 2 easy catches away of turning everything around. It did not work though and three elves were left to witness the final TD giving victory.

TL;DR?
First half, 1-1. Elves equalized last thing that happened.
Second half, 2-2 after a quick TD for the elfs and a lucky TD for undeads (lost the ball on our drive but intercepted a pass..)
OT: 3-2, Mortarz win coin toss and elfs armor couldn't hold out.
