Fulham received and decided to score quickly, to both ward off the worry of the wizard, but also in the hope that the chainsaw would be sent off, or if the bribe worked, at least stay no longer than the half. However, after setting up a straight forward score, Danny Murphy snaked the end zone GFI, the ball went into the crowd and was thrown into a melee of Orcs.
The rest of the half was an Orc grind up field, but Fulham managed to get a last ditch tackle in on the ball carrier and hoofed the ball up field to stop the score. The Orcs took their frustration out on a downed Fulham player, but when the referee stepped in with the red card the bribe was bought into play. The blitzer got to play the second half, but thankfully it meant no bribe for the saw.
Second half saw 11 Orcs line up against the 8 of Fulham. Fulham opted for a short kick to pressure the ball early, which worked as the Orcs failed the pickup and Fulham recovered. This was the point at which the Wizard stepped in, frying Andy Johnson where he stood. The rest of the half was a strange melee, with the Orcs repeatedly getting the ball back (but unable to cage), followed by the Elves knocking the ball loose again, but failing key rolls to capitalise.
Finally, with time running out the Orcs tried the big play for a pickup, GFI, hand off, but when the GFI failed Fulham were finally able to collect the ball and Malbranque burst the back of the net for 1-0.
There was still time for the Orcs to try something special, but the ref was late for his dinner and decided to shorten the game, taking away any chance of an equaliser.
1-0 to Fulham, the second derby game won in succession, but by no means an easy victory ... in fact, I might have to give the boys tomorrow off to recover!
Thanks for the game bladten, best of luck for the league.”
