i fired a beastman to go back down to 11 players, in order to avoid giving away 250 inducements (apoth+wizard probably)
opponent took a mercenary lineman, and the starplayer with chainsaw. so had 14 players
there was only 3 players of note though really, the wardancer-style superstar runner 'snow troll', the dodge/block ulfwerener, and the str5 ulf. the rest was just linemen with a few skills between them
i won the toss and went first, KO 2 of 3 on the LOS
my pickup dropped the ball in the centre of my half, lightly screened. his DB st4 ulf blitzed a beast out the way to allow snowtroll to attempt pickup (in 1 or 2 tacklezones) which he failed, giving me the opportunity to blitz him with 3 dice from my frenzy clawpomber, who KO's the runner, then my team secures the ball
norse turn 2, the ulf frenzy-surfs a beast then they reform a defensive position in front of my cluster of guys
my turn 3, i think 'player numbers advantage, time for full-contact' and blitz in with my frenzy killer (who just gets pushes) and move all my guys into contact with the norse
this was a pretty bad idea, the norse all have block and he happily lays a few of my dudes on the ground and gets closer to the ball
my turn 4, i hit back a little bit and move the ball carrier away down the flank with 1 escorting beast
his turn 4, he blocks a lineman free and blitzes ball with 2 dice from the str5 ulf, but his first hit is pushes and the second he falls over on failed go-for-it
my turn 5, ball goes deep into his half, i blitz away the lineman near the fallen ulf so i can foul him (stun)
his turn 5, he blitzes the ball with the mercenary lineman but gets a skull and they're out of re-rolls. rest of his team is still by the halfway line and not really a threat.
i blitz another beastman free of the scrum to provide another
assist on fouling the str5 ulf guy, its killed! apothecary rerolls, still killed! - my dirty player beastman gets banned for this but what a trade
rest of the half a bit of bashing, not much happens, i score turn 8
second half
his injuries were mostly KO and they have all came back, including the most important one (snow troll), i'm now outnumbered about 11-9
kick off result is throw-a-rock, a warrior of mine gets stunned allowing a blitz on my frenzy killer, i generally get swarmed and outblocked
my frenzy killer is surrounded by 4 guys who give him a good shoeing as they foul-KO him out
rest of the half is a grind of norse blocking, i do manage to badly-hurt the st4 ulf, so now its just mr snowtroll and the linemen, but they outnumber me and i'm constantly on the backfoot with guys getting laid out on the floor
notable moments really were a gamble attempt to blitz-push my newest warrior into contact with snowtroll, but the 1-dice block doesn't turn up the POW i needed even re-rolled, and i risk getting both the warrior and the beast who blitzed him surfed
norse grind continues till turn 8, he equalises 1-1
i gave 1 turn scoring a go, but don't have enough guys or the reach and its overtime!
my frenzy guy stays KO twice, so i field about 8 vs his 10 i think?
norse win the cointoss and its a simple, one-sided repeat of the 2nd half
my best chance was an attempted blitz-push by my ballcarrier beast to shove a warrior into contact with the ball, but the dodge failed and its gg.
so i'm out of fumbbl cup, norse go on to face a huge wood elf team from Ranked, they'll get ~1000tv in inducements. good luck there
best part of the game for my team was post-match, my ball carrier's touchdown means he hit 76spp and got +str, woo
