The Cult of Moon knew the importance of this game, the importance of setting things right. Their last battle with the Swallowers saw them defeated and they couldn't allow that to become a pattern. Worse, they were without Mandara - a core leader in their fight.
He wasn't fit to play after suffering on the Shadowspire, but Mandara wasn't totally unable to contribute. Knowing his presence on the field would not help the team he travelled alone to the Yantai as an envoy of Moon, seeking to buy an ogre for their cause. The slavers had a number of ogres captured from the surrounding Bahaal Canyons, but one in particular stood out above the others. The Dawi-Zharr however were unwilling to part with him for more than a sigle match. Mandara returned just before kick-off and the Ogre superstar was able to line up on the pitch.
The game itself was a strange affair. The Swallowers went aggressive early on with allowed the Cult to capitalize on a ball-handling error to break away and score. With only a few turns left the Swallowers went for broke on the return and hurled the ball downfield for a long-bomb passing score.
Into the second half and the Cult started well enough, moving the ball downfield. The Slann made a good attempt at halting the drive, and looked to have succeeded when Greta Bhaksaka managed to hold position next to a loose ball, but the agility of the elves saw them manage one final moment of luck and brilliance to seal the win.
The Swallowers have now been forced off the island again and the Cult of Moon leadership inauguration will take place in the coming days.”
