Having been beaten up in the 1st round by some toothless humans, and squeaking by in overtime, the Alley were hoping for Nuffle's favour in this one. After scoring relatively unchallenged - knockout out both Raiders wolves - but losing several players to injuries, it looked hopeful.
However both wolves made it back for the 2nd half and the referee just wasn't interested as boot after boot rained down on our team and all the raiders team seemed capable of causing casualties. We got smashed.
Still, it went to overtime - and Pig Sty Alley win the toss! The Coat gets in range! Instead of going for the touchdown move, I miscount a run up top. Nuffle bails the Coat on the potential surf as the wolf fails to dodge but then snakes his own dodge and that's more or less it with another tease as Landlady is given a chance to blitz the ball but also falls over when dodging - everybody just too damn tired, all that nervous energy from the lack of a referee.
11 casualties and that hurts, very few regenerating but the important one did - the Palm killed but restored.
I'm left to rue a mistake readying the team, not giving my opponent's roster a final check and thus failing to hire a wizard. Whilst the babes were key, a fireball or bolt may have changed the complexion of the game by giving a cushion and making Cedric chase it. Instead, his horde of dirty players had all the time in the world whilst the referee enjoyed a cup of tea.”
