Lindisfarne 'Sons were confident going in to this match, daring even to hope to have the luxury to skill their new Ulf, but it was so, so close to a tie - heartbreaker for Buenos Aires!

The 'Sons chose to receive, and the first drive found both unexpected pressure and zero traction on their injury rolls - lots of stuns, not a Knock Out to be found despite liberal application of the Mighty Blow, Piling On and Claw.

Kicking Turn 5, they were then overly focused on the Wizard, and stupidly left themselves open to a frenzy surf, and soon looked to be overwhelmed with Tangueros breakthroughs on both sides, but a desperate -2d block on the ogre opened the door to blitz the ballcarrier and pop the ball free, stopping that drive.

Second half the Sons out-clevered themselves, succeeding in a complex chain-push to get an Ulf next to the ballcarrier, but only to have a RR'd -2d skull out, and the Pact swept around clear, and after the Troll skulled next turn as well (and failed the RR), they scored Turn 4 (perhaps missing an opportunity to stall a bit longer?), but tie game.

Meanwhile - finally - the 'Sons had put a few Tangueros in the Cas box, so received with 4 turns to win, and facing only 8 opponents (and fewer as the half wound down) - and their wizard, who struck and stunned the ballcarrier before the 'Sons' Turn 6.

But Nuffle was kind, and while Loners marked the big threats, a run of do-or-tie "no-RR not-failures" followed, including the pickup by a nearby Berserker, far too many no-skill frenzy blocks by Ulfs and final Turn 16 GFI's for the win.

A tough almost-tie for the near-rookie Tangueros - with a few skills under their belts, they will not be someone to be taken lightly.

#3 Piazzolla – Serious Concussion (-AV)
#6 Merello – Dead (RIP)
Smeat already went through every important point, so I just wish to add that he's a great guy to play against. All cool and friendly, even when the odds didn't look too nice for him. Plus, his advice on team development were great.

Two mistakes for me: not stalling at least one turn when I have a shot at it (not being luck doing that lately), and trying to keep a ko's on the field late in the game, using an apo. Could have saved the elf.

Best of luck for the Midnight Sons in the matchs ahead!
