1st half, the Breaded Beards had little trouble scoring, though we both were down players by the end of the drive. I suffered the 2 injuries during this drive, but Flint rolled a 1 and KO'd himself, while I got a couple of injuries myself...big one being his only Guard. I was unable to equalize before the half ended, being afraid of his wizard made me a bit more cautious and a lot more spread out.
2nd half started with 11 Techs vs 9 beards, and I was able to march down the middle of the pitch pretty much un-opposed, scoring in 5 turns, leaving him 4 turns to score. I got to make use of Jump up on a Troll slayer to keep the ball on the ground, but he still had a chance to score, but he failed to pick up the ball in a TZ. Oh, the Wizard was used to free up his blitzer that could have scored (with 2GFI's) if he could only get the ball--the Lightning bolt BH hurt Junior..I probably should have used the apoth on him then.
OT, 9 Techs (1 KO, 3 injuries) vs 7 Beards. I did have 3 RR's to his 0. Pitch Invasion was the KO result, stunning 3 players on both sides (this obviously hurt the beards more than it did my team). Attrition set in in OT though, as I got at least 2 and I think 3 of my casualties here, including Lifey who died bravely (earning the MVP). Jump up again helped me some, as my TS was able to get to the ball sooner than might have been expected. A desperation Pass ended up in the hands of Tim,who was exactly 5 squares from the EZ. A couple of pushed later, he was free to score.
2-1 final..good, close game. Lots of money, relatively. 3 skills, (jump up on the other slayer, Kickoff return on a runner, and the boring old Mighty Blow on a guarding Longbeard...err blocker.
