#18 Evander Vilestone – Dead (RIP)
Being matched against a strong opponent with even teams was a pleasure: Glenn Beck provided his team a strenght advantage, having the same number of guards but more mobile and with Glenn himself possibly being a devastating threat to dwarf positioning. On the other had, Control Attempt could trust their dwarven toughness and fielded a pair of old foxes like Stoppy and Scory, both capable of dominating the match if in good shape.
Glenn Beck's guys decided to defend and did put their opponents under pressure even before turn 1, quickly reorganizing their defence a millisecond before game start: this forced us to risk from turn 1, while having only one good block to do before picking up the ball. The gratifying result was a KOed blitzer, the only hard hitter in his team, and ball secured: then a few turns of blocking from both sides gave us some number advantage which pushed happygrue toward a gang foul of Stoppy, trying to avoid further damage. The fould was successful but gave us a way to pass the human defence and run towards the endzone, with a pair of turns of stalling that left only a 2 turns score to the humans. Time was enough but a lot of rolling was needed and the humans ended up with nothing and a 2nd half of 9 vs 10 dwarves, Strategery being still unconscious in the KO rooms.
Dwarves played then a full-contact defence, humans reacted with sharp combinations, trying to exploit any chance to get Scory out of field and running away before he could stand back on his feet: this was a crucial moment where they forced us to 4 gfis to blitz the ballcarrier, but this time dwarves weren't too much hampered by their short legs and succeeded! A further demonstration of style was a -2d casualty on a lineman and a 4+ dodge to get more TZs on the ball: humans had only a desperate dodge+chainpush attempt to search for a lucky bounce allowing a score but they didn't get it, and Scory secured the ball for the unavoidable 2-0, while Tears of Rage decided to commit suicide not to see his team losing for the first time.

A match which was "very close until it wasn't", as happygrue said. Cheers to him for the funny chat and see you soon for a rematch!

#6 Tears of Rage – Dead (RIP)
#9 Truthiness – Damaged Back (NI)
#13 "Facts" – Dead (RIP)
Great summary of a tense game! The only thing I would add is that I played both kickoff results aggressively (PD to guard lock you, figuring taking away half your RR early might prove decisive) and the touchback to the blitzer on the LOS in the second half rather than the safer option backfield. I wish I had been a bit more careful at both, as I'm not sure either was the best play. I also wonder if I had stacked the bottom more if my 2 turn score might have worked (with another player down there in scoring range), but I worried about a blitz or bad kickoff giving your runner an easy chance to pick it up. Ah well, next time!

I also regret apoing that lino seeing the damage that followed... but I wanted every advantage after my supposed score and I knew I wasn't going to be able to stall it out against that many well coached dwarves marking me every turn.
