Last game of Season VIII, one game too late for the 'Sons but a possible post-seaon for the Noldorins. Both coaches knew it would be bash for the Norse (against one Bloodweiser Babe), and elfy dodge-ball for the HElfs (against only 1 Tackler for the Norse) - but the bash won the day, altho' not snowballing until the 2nd half, and helped considerably by epic failed elf-dodges at critical moments.

Turn 1 the 'Sons SI'd one lino, KO'd another and stunned a third, caging with the ball on their own 9. By Turn 3 the HElfs had KO'd a Norse lino, and in reply the Norse DP was banned after KO'ing stat-freak and part-time killer Fernando (+St, +Ag, & MB!), and the cage had been pushed up past midfield, with the stuns definitely against the HElfs as "Both Down" haunted their blocking and blitzing. Turn 4 the 'Sons caged the ball at the 4 yard line, and stalled unchallenged until Turn 6 when the Noldorins marked the Blodger ballcarrier heavily, but the remaining 8 Norse muscled the 7 HElfs so that no dodge was necessary, and even felt secure enough to risk handing off to an Ulf Turn 7 for the Turn 8 score (and a skill).

The Turn 8 & 9 kickoffs only allowed all 3 KO'd Helfs to wake up, but only 1 of 2 Norse did so, evening the teams at 9 vs. 9 for the 2nd Half.

2nd Half, the Noldorins started, Turn 1, by killing gimped Ulf Wolfman Helson, whose pleading puppy-dog eyes prompted the Apo to be used, and successfully. The HElfs then refused an unchallenged Turn 2 score from the 8, falling back into their own half of the field instead. The Norse began targeting lone Helfs and threatening more, and a Turn 4 score soon followed to tie the game, but not before the Noldorins had used all their RR's.

The Turn 4 Kickoff Result was "Get the Ref", which gave both coaches something to think about, especially the pair of Norse Pile-On 'Zerks and the no-skill Fernando. The teams were still 9 vs. 9, both with ample linemen to foul with and others to assist, and no Apo for the Norse.

First turn Noldorin Catcher was BH'd (9:8), but the 'Sons used their linemen to screen their valuable players against any blitz or foul, leaving the ballcarrier only semi-caged far to the rear. Unskilled, Ag 5 Fernando started the defensive effort by triple-dodging for the blitz - but with no RR's could only Push, and then dodged away again once he remembered the Bribes. Four other Elfs marked the ballcarrier after the Push, but again the Norse were able to free the Blodger without need of risking an Ag 3 Dodge, and push the cage to midfield. During this, blitzing Hrolf killed a lineman (9:7), who was apo'd to "only" -AV - but now the HElf apo was out too, with both bribes remaining and lots of Norse bash-ball to be played.

The very next Turn, Turn 6, Fernando again relied on his Ag 5 and tried to blitz in to the ballcarrier - but this time his luck ran out, tripping and BH'ing himself with half of the remaining 6 Noldorins still on the ground. Now badly outnumbered, their best player out and their will broken, the Helfs put up a token effort to stop the score, but Turn 16 a blodging Blitzer failed a dodge on the -2d desperation blitz, and, since the apo had already been used on an unskilled lineman, killed himself - and won MVP for his crowd-pleasing effort - and the game was sealed.

Both teams look forward to the off-season, to get some practice and replacement of key positionals that had been lost during the season - or, in the case of the Noldorins, this last game.
