What promised to be an epic encounter certainly didn't disappoint in this overtime thriller!

Decadence received first and were put under good early backfield pressure by the Khemri, but managed to punch a hole and some skillful dodging saw them break the line and form up most of their team behind the Powerslave line. Coach 'Madman' shouted for the team to play for time and they scored as the clock ticked over to halftime.

Powerslave came out of the blocks second half looking to upset the Pact and got a good push on with their early drive before a stiff Decadence defense stalled them 30 yards out. In their previous 2 encounters Decadence had contained the Powerslave attack only to be beaten at the death by a fabulous. unexpectedly agile play and this proved to be the case again. Twice the Pact managed to put 3 players around the ball-carrier only to have him dodge away and tied the game in the final moments.

Overtime began with the pact winning the toss and electing to receive, a big advantage in this situation. The Khemri defense was better this time around and it looked like the drive had stalled, with Joshua making a break for the score only to trip and drop the ball. A scrum and a lot of fumbling about ensued and it looked like OT was destined to end a draw until Judas pulled out all the stops to dodge past 2 players, blitz Solomon's marker and sprint for the end zone. Solomon picked himself up, scooped up the ball while surrounded and tossed it down field for Judas to secure the victory in the unlikeliest of circumstances.

Celebrations erupted around the stadium as Decadence won promotion to the top tier. It'll be tough for them next year trying to survive among the big boys of the game. Powerslave will remain in Division 2 for next season at least, though with the strong team they are building it shouldn't be too much longer before they join Decadence at the top.”
