The first block of the game of the game saw the first casualty as Black Forest Gateux got the Cakes off to a great start by BHing one of two tacklers on the Greek's team. It was the start of a strong hitting performance from the Cakes and Gateux in particular. (Although a well timed apo intervention saved the MA10 AG4 star, who would come back to haunt the Cakes.)
An -2d block opened a gap in the elves Cage, and the blitz popped the ball leaving six TZs on it, three from each side. The lizards won the battle of the pushes onto the ball, leaving it in the open for a skink to make the dash for the line. But a failed dodge left the door open for a blitz and steal, then Carrot swept in and did what he does best, spiralling it towards a catcher who was able to hold off a Saurus blitz, streak free and hand off, before the stall and score.
The one turn score was attempted and with MA10 and AG4 it was a relatively simple effort for the Greeks, although AG3 would have worked on this occasion.
Half time score 1-1
Second half started with a casualty for the only unskilled Saurus to give him six spps. The lizards' drive down the north flank (sticking the boot in as they went), but some failed blocks forced the Greeks into a score on the fourth turn - again the star skink scoring the touchdown.
A deep kick allowed the lizards to screen the ballcarrier, and a loose cage resulted in a Saurus break tackle attempt, which failed. With the lizards realising that they were out of position to try another attempt at the ball, both sides settled for a draw.
Final score 2-2
Cheers for the game Malmir
Of note
- The five casualties inflicted by the Cakes equalled their bashiest ever game.
- The three casuaties took Black Forest Gateux II to the top of the pile for casualties inflicted by a Cakes player, going past his predacessorBlack Forest Gateux's score of 15.”
