“Old World Challenge Cup - Kislev Conference V - Round 2
This was my first proper match in the OWCC after my introduction game from gjopie where i had to score 4 TDs to skill up two players.
I exchanged pleasantries with MrOdd, the Chaos coach. His team hadn't mutated as yet, and my Nurgle team had just been herded together, so there was going to be very little slime, blood and bile on the pitch.
Whichever way, the teams were fairly evenly matched, with Nurge calling upon some prematch extratraining (which helped a lot!) and a Fame advantage (interesting, having not yet played!).
1st half began with a strong push into the chaos half and resulted in a TD in turn 5/4 as Crima Clovenhoof trotted in for the first of a brace. The half almost ended with a 2nd TD as the Nurgle ranks applied pressure to a hesitant Chaos play, and Grakk Foamsplutter only needed a 3+ to dodge for a score... but tripped on his tail.
The 2nd half began with 10 players apiece. The Chaos team resorted to building a cage... but things started to get a little immobile as the drive stuttered, and then one or two poor dice turned against them. By turn 4/5 the chaos attack had barely crossed the half way line... and then a series of "push me push me" rolls saw ball carrier Thorgerd moved around a bit by the Nurgle side, before finally being upended and removed from the pitch only for a Chaos Warrior to grab the bouncing ball... actually it got trapped in his helm plate, but there you go... Skyrak Slaughterborn made a dash for safety but caught caught up in a particular tufty bit of grass and fell flat on his face. The Nurgle side closed in, secured the ball and bellowed cries of adoration to the one true god of the wastelands - Nurgle - as they crossed for a 2nd TD.
All in all, the dice were with the Nurgle side, who didn't do too much wrong... the Chaos side however were left high and dry a good couple of times by some poor dice.
Good luck for the season MrOdd... I face a much more experienced Orc side next, which won't be pretty! ”
