Mostly kicked and Atei started the game with what turned out to be a mostly uneventful blocking scrum where Atei star MB/PO blitzer UAAR just didn't perform, leaving Atei short handed by the end.
Turn 4 was the key to the first half, when a failed lino dodge allowed a blitz by Hicks on the ball. Hicks was then able to recover the scatter, forcing Atei to use their wizard on Defense. Coach Gygax was able to recover and cage back up, but was ultimately not able to push in a score. Hudson leaped in to fill a gap allowing Ripley to double-surf two elves and then dodge back out to block up the next best scoring lane. Atei almost prevailed but UAAR came up short (again), tripping on the goal line. 0-0 at the half.
Lacking a bench, Atei started down 3 elves and without their wizard. We Mostly Ground out a Stall, though coach happygrue risked some at the end and coach Gygax put up a nice last ditch defense and forced some dice at the end to score.
I'm glad UAAR was crap or that could have turned out much worse for us! Thanks for the game.”
