The 1st half was a tight competitive affair. Stan may regret moving backwards in the penultimate turn with 0 rerolls, allowing a screen that would force just enough risks that the final go for it failed.
On the Devils drive some strong necromantic defense and a lot of knock outs forced the pass out of Jim and lineman Alexander only needed to make a go for it to score - but faceplanted. With men disappearing there seemed to be a lack of good old stiff upper lip amongst the humans and a Flee Bags victory was looking inevitable. Cometh the hour, cometh the man - Stanley Matthews retreated as sweeper and brought down the wolf which had outpaced its team mates in an attempt to score.
Overtime beckoned but, with only 7 players lining up for the Devils on defense against a near full strength Flee Bags side, it once more looked gloomy. A unexpected hand off was dropped and Jim saw a chance. He slipped through to the surprise of everybody and scooped the ball up, tossing it to Tommy. Stanley crunched flesh golem Frank and all of a sudden the match had been turned on its head! A startled wolf failed its dodge and Tommy ran clear.
Crazy end to a game in which the humans were 2nd best for long periods.”
