“A painless game for both sides, which was good as Schmaurus was recovering from a pair of Saurus lost last game (one RIP'd, their +St niggled), so it was 4 Sauri vs. 4 Warriors (evenly matched with Block), a Krox vs. a Beast (both unskilled) - and 6 Skinks (inc. 2 journeymen) vs. 7 combined Pestigors and Rotters.
1st half, Fly' received, but soon their screen became flawed, and a blitz and lucky bounce (and luckier Ag 3 Dodges and a pickup in a TZ) left the ball in the hands of Schmaurus to end Turn 3. They survived the ensuing blitz and their skinks ran laps near the endzone to stall to the end of the half while the Sauri were tying up most of the Foul-Appearing nurglers, score 1-0.
2nd half (with only one rookie Warrior and a Journeyman Skink not answering the bell), Fly' kicked, and it was Schmaurus' turn to fail to close the cage on a missed dodge. But the 4d Pestigor blitz (not RR'd!?) failed to Pow the blodger skink ballcarrier, and sidestep kept him from the tentacles of the nearby Beast. The cage fell back and (mostly) reformed, and Turn 4 a risky Krox Break Tackle Blitz chained a path free for the 1-GFI score, 2-0.
The Turn 4 kickoff saw fewer players for both sides on the field, and a lizard BLITZ! and a kick to the LoS. Schmaurus sold out, swarming to the Fly backfield, but an alert Pestigor actually caught the ball in a TZ (5+), and ran into the mostly-empty Schmaurus half of the field to the 7 yard line. A Break Tackle Saurus tripped on the gfi blitz at the moment of impact, but with no RR remaining the Pestigor conservatively only advanced to the 1, apparently wary after watching the luck of the Saurus. But that allowed a skink to mark, and the BT Saurus to catch up and threaten - and that delayed Fly' enough to allow a Turn 7 blitz that did pop the ball free on the 1 yard line, and Fly' could not get the ball in hand in the next 2 turns, game over.”
