3rd round of the SWL regionals and on paper, Technically Minded had a big edge with the large TV advantage going in. Captain_Knuckles chose two extra rerolls for his inducements but at the end of the match probably wished he has 2 more!

The first half saw the Dwarves receiving despite losing the toss. The first round of blocking saw two zombies off the field (KO and regenerated casualty) and the ball nicely secured in that annoying Dwarven way.

The wolves came around the back to pester and despite blocking the Necro every chance they got, the next casualty was a badly hurt Long Beard mid way through the first half. As the first half wore on, a few half chances around the ball opened up, but eventually the lack of skills and rerolls for the Necro told, and with several players out of position pestering from behind the Dwarven lines, a gap opened up and the Dwarves made their Dwarven way down field to eventually go 1-0 up.

The second half saw Necro starting with an 11-10 player advantage and they immediately advanced down 1 side of the field to have a wolf in scoring range at the end of turn 1. The dwarves set up a convincing looking screen and the ball carrying wolf made a run for it to the other side of the field. Alas he did not run far enough and two runners tagged and sacked him setting the ball loose. A huge scrum evolved and eventually a bouncing ball was court by a zombie. With both teams out of rerolls and just a few turns to go, we saw some very short turns indeed - skull, dbl skull, skull, troll slayer whose second block required GFI - 1, and finally a failed hand-off.

Thank you Captain Knuckles for a fun game - despite your team taking a huge 60-32 blocks beating they showed just how tough they were and I am sure if our teams had been more balanced the result would have come out differently today.
