“When zons out hit Lizards, though Lizards without much tackle or MB, things should go well for the zons.
Things went well enough. Survived an opening kick off blitz to steal the ball followed by a fireball which went 0/3, by playing active defense.
The turn 8 score had multiple dodges and gfis topped off by a pick up in a tackle zone and a long pass (though with ag4 accurate and strong arm it was still a 2+).
In the 2nd half the lizards faced a blitz of their own, and after being unable to take down a side stepping blitzer with 8 dice, zona retreated the ball and was able to switch sides of the pitch leaving a chunk of the sauri marked and out of position. However, a brain farted move instead of blitz kept the zons from securing the position they wanted, and left an uncontested 2d on the ball. This time the pow came and the ball was scrummed up for a few turns before skinks started rolling 5s and 6s to secure the equalizer, one which would have made elfs proud.
Still, 2 turns for the Zons to win it, but a perfect D, and then a failed gfi, made it a fairly routine stop for the lizards.
Overtime had the lizards receiving, but again, active defense kept them from being able to scoot any skinks into scoring range, and the zons AG4 blitzer was eventually able to actually get the ball out, by this point both teams players were apparently exhausted as neither side could manage to even pick up the ball in last ditch attempts to score.
The overtime voters apparently preferred the zons game plan more than the lizards and rewarded them with enough style points to claim a victory.
“Both teams pulled off a miracle play to get their score (Arizona at the end of the first half, Cal at the end of the second), and neither could replicate the magic in overtime.
The coin-toss result: Cal 3, Arizona 4.
It was one hell of a game.”

It was, as ex-con said, one hell of a game.”
