Looked like it might be a tough game, so I took two Mercs and a Bloodwiser babe...turned out that I needed exactly those inducements!
I received the opening kickoff, and tried my usual 'go deep and score in 2 turns' play. It didn't work--due in large part to the ton of Disturbing presence on the Nurgle team. However, he didn't have a lot of luck either, as he used most of his RR's on Double Skulls. Eventually, I was able to pick up the ball in the EZ on turn 6 (failing to pass the ball 5 turns in a row!). Vegan's power did not make much of a push to score before the half, and I was able to stop them..though my thrower gets thrown out of the game on my 1st foul (stunning his Jump Up legend Pestigor, Le Mangeur de Tofu. (not much of a trade really).
Begining of the 2nd half, I still had 11 players to his 10, but that was soon rectified. A brutal 8-turn drive ensued, with the tying score coming on turn 8 and I only had 7 players to play vs his 10. however, one of those 7 is Hyper Zzpeed, with speed 10 and sprint, so I had a chance. Zlash failed to catch the High-Kick, but managed to pick it up and pass it (finally) to Hyper, who sprinted and dodged in for the winning TD, avoiding the looming spectre of OT.
Zlash gets Two heads, Zap will learn how to block while missing the next game.
I came out of the game in better shape than I imagined it would be, but will still miss Zzagan, my str 4 claw blitzer.
oh, and the Bloodwiser babe actually paid off, turned at least three 3's into 4's for KO recovery!
