“Took a beating (what is new) and still managed to pull out the win somehow.
1st half, I could have scored on turn 7. I was there..but it would have given him 2 turns to score, and I was sure I could stop him in 2 turns--I was already down players (2 out and the DR KO/sent off). It came back to haunt me, as my runner was taken out (KO) and though my -2db worked, the ball went out of bounds and really too far (back to the LOS) for any hope of a TD (tried, Blocker got the ball and tried a Long Bomb..but fumbled instead of the 6 I needed)
2nd half, I'm at 8 and he's at 10, and the numbers don't get any better. But for some reason, he doesn't push ahead much at all, lingering at the LOS. Eventually, I get Tim to pop the ball out, and he actually stays standing on the multiple blocks the next turn...ending with the CD's not being able to pick the ball up. I'm able to block and blitz to set up my Runner to receive a pass deep, and Tim is able to dodge in, pick up the ball and pass it to LongLegs, using my last RR (IIRC). Only 2 blockless hobgoblins can reach me and the 1db is POW/SKULL (nice that LongLegs has STR 4 and block)..one blitz later, and I'm in for the TD on my turn 7..leaving him only 1 turn to score. KO lands in the EZ and though they are set up for the improbable OTS try (need to push the MV 7 Bull 3 squares forward), they can't really do it. Push the guy 3 squares forward, long bomb to someone that hasn't moved on the LOS, the hand off to the BC...really wasn't going to happen. They do get one more casualty on that turn.
no new skills. Lost 2 blockers and one Slayer will miss the next game (apothed a -st to just MNG) One of the blockers is the one I bought thinking I was buying a Blitzer..so I replace him with an Actual Blitzer (yeah 80k winnings) (#1 is a blitzer spot on MY dwarven rosters ;)
only 11 for next game, so no protection for the DR.”
